Mark is a genuine, professional and sincere gentleman. I needed to set up LPA and to get my Will sorted, but I had no real understanding on the ins and outs and implications of my decisions other than I needed to do it as soon as possible. Mark went to great pains to make sure I fully understood all decisions I undertook and the implications of things as I might not have thought about putting down in writing and how important it is to do this correctly. It also took a lot of time to explain how LPA’s work. His patience and understanding Was endless, no matter how many times I wanted to revisit or change wording etc he was more than accommodating. Mark then came to my Home for final signatures and again quickly covered everything before I signed and everything was witnessed. I would not hesitate in recommending Mark however simple or complicated you think your Will might be, you will be in very safe hands It’s horrible to talk about costs but he charges an extremely fair sum of money for completing such a fantastic job. Mark Everest was professional and crystal clear throughout the estate planning process. He was patient and at all times helpful in explaining some of the more complicated choices and their outcomes in a simple and understandable way. Making a will can be an uncomfortable prospect. It was a relief to have an estate planner who was understanding of our concerns and was obviously well-informed as he spelled out the choices for us in a jargon free way. We had some tough decisions to make and he listened patiently as we worked through them. We wished to make corrections to several of the drafts of the wills and expressions of wishes. I had found Marks’ name and contact details on my late parent’s will and remembered the name from that time as he had personally overseen and completed their wills and LPA’s during a period when my folks were experiencing untold issues with the company whom they’d approached to deal with it all, though I hadn’t met him myself. In trying to deal with closing my late dad’s bank account, sort the probate, inheritance tax etc - all strictly to the letter of the law – by referring to many websites which for the best part offer duplicate information (often word-for-word!) and being advised by Citizen’s Advice to seek the help of a solicitor (which I cannot afford, thus my approaching CAB!), in utter desperation I rang Mark, seeking confirmation of whether my folks wills are those of a Family Trust. Mark clearly remembered my folks, particularly my late sibling and her struggles with cancer. We spoke at length, with Mark giving me much of his time (just short of ninety-minutes in fact; how many advisors do that!) considering the ad-hoc nature of my call. He not only advised me of extremely pertinent related matters which I might never have otherwise realised, but did so in a way in which even I understood (the man has the patience of a saint!). I’ve no idea about fate, however I can’t help but think I was supposed to make that call, as I now have such a broader understanding of family trusts and their pros and cons. Mark also advised me of his rates and fee’s which, although I’m by no means an expert – and as a currently unwaged person with minus-zero in the way of savings, I consider to be very fare indeed. I happen to know that Mark himself has had his ‘fingers burnt’ in various ways, which adds to his working hard to see that his clients don’t. This is the first time that I’ve ever had any faith in anybody working in Mark’s sector. When it comes to drawing-up my own will, I’ll have no hesitation in contacting Mark at Everest Estate Planning. I wish his new venture well!
